Good morning everyone! One of my younger readers asked for a recipe for American pancakes, so here we go.

American pancakes (yield: 12)

  • 1 cup + 1 tablespoon (250 ml) milk
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 2  1/3 cup (300 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) regular sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla sugar (or use 1 teaspoon pure vanilla powder)
  • 4 eggs

Mix together the milk and vinegar and set aside.

In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar and vanilla sugar.

Whisk until well blended.

Melt the butter in the microwave.

Add the eggs and the melted butter to the flour mixture.

Add the vanilla sugar or powder.

Whisk until the batter is lump free.

Leave the batter to rest for 30 minutes before frying.

Put a knob of butter into a warm frying pan and fry the pancakes for a few minutes on each side. Repeat until all the batter is used.

You can make heart shaped pancakes.. do it like I did on the photo below, or make larger pancakes and use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut it out after the pancake is cooked.

I love hearts!

Delicious with some strawberries on the side..

I love Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup with these pancakes..

Or Hershey’s Chocolate or Caramel Syrup..

That was it for now – have a great day everyone!
