Today I made these lovely chocolate chip snickerdoodles, the perfect weekend treat.

Here is the recipe, enjoy!

Chocolate Chip Snickerdoodles

  • 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 2/3 cups (350 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (225 g) regular sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) light brown sugar
  • 3 1/2 oz. (100 g) dark chocolate chips

Melt the butter in a saucepan on a medium heat. Leave it on the heat until the butter turns a golden caramel color, about 6 minutes.

Pour the melted butter through a sieve and into a mixing bowl.

Start whisking on a medium speed for about 5-7 minutes, or until the butter has come back to room temperature.

Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, ground cinnamon and salt into a medium bowl.

Add the sugar and brown sugar to the melted butter, beat for about 2 minutes (medium speed).

Add both eggs and beat for another 2 minutes

Add the flour mixture and beat on a low speed until well blended.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour.

Cinnamon mixture:

  • 3 tablespoons regular sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Put the sugar and ground cinnamon into a small bowl and stir to mix.

Make small balls from the cookie dough and roll them in the sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Arrange them on a lined baking tray and bake in a 390 ˚F (200 ˚C) oven for about 10 minutes.

Leave to cool completely.
