This is a delicious chocolate frosting made with Philadelphia Chocolate Cream Cheese.

 Dark Chocolate Cheese Frosting

  • 14 oz. (400 g) chocolate
  • 1 ½ cup (350 g) butter, at room temperature
  • ¾ cup (100 g) powdered sugar
  • 3 ½ tablespoon (25 g) cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons (50 ml) boiling water
  • 7 oz. (200 g) Philadelphia Chocolate Cream Cheese, at room temperature
  • Melt the chocolate, set aside to cool completely.

Put the butter and powdered sugar into a mixing bowl and beat until fluffy.

Mix together the cocoa powder and the water.

Add the melted chocolate, cocoa mixture and the chocolate cream cheese to the mixing bowl. Add a little coffee for a mocca flavor (optional).

Mix until fluffy.

Add a few teaspoons strong coffee to the frosting to create a lovely mocca flavor.

If you like the flavor of caramel just add 2 tablespoons dulche de leche, or similar.

  2. Hei 🙂

Hvor mange cupcakes blir dette frosting til?? Mvh Juliane

  5. hello there…is it philadelphiaost with Freia chocolate same as nutella?

  6. Hei, hva er det mørke i den lille skålen? Er det kaffe eller vaniljeekstrakt?

    • Hei Ingelin,
Det er kaffe om man ønsker mokka smak. Bra at du så det. skal oppdatere. Tusen takk.

Hello Olia and Virly Amalia, you can use regular cream cheese, just one extra tablespoonful of cocoa powder and a little extra powdered sugar to taste.

Hi, can I replace the Philadelphia chocolate cream cheese with just cream cheese? We don’t have that here ♥

Hi Fernanda, you can indeed just use normal cream cheese, but you may want to add a little extra cocoa powder if you do.
      Happy baking!

  9. Hi, can I remove the chocolate used in this recipe to make regular cream cheese frosting instead?

  10. My cake came out very tasty….thank you for the amazing recipe…my question is
a)-few ingredient 200gm is 1 cup and 1 ingredient 250gm is 1 cup…so which one shall we follow
b)-what do I do with the extra Philadelphia chocolate cream cheese

Hi Neha, the grams and cup measurements vary according to type of ingredient. 1 cup flour, for instance, doesn’t weight the same as 1 cup butter.
Cream cheese can be used in many recipes, or just as a spread on a piece of toast.
