Hello again everyone.
If you still have some presents left on your list, why not make a lovely edible gift?
Like this – a delicious chocolate bar filled with dulce de leche, a lucious caramel, and dusted with edible gold dust.
A chocolate bar with that “de luxe” feeling!
Tempted? I was inspired by Gemma Stafford’s video, you can watch it here.
Chocolate dulce de leche bars
- 9 oz. (250 g) dark chocolate
- Dulce de leche
- Edible gold dust or other edible dust of your choice
Alternative:
Chocolate bars with candy cane
- 9 oz. (250 g) dark chocolate
- candy cane, crushed
I use a Break-Apart Bar Chocolate Mold, you can get it here.
Melt the chocolate over a water bath or in the microwave oven.
Pour the chocolate into the mold and tip it to all sides, making sure the mold is completely covered.
Chill in the refrigerator for 5 minutes. I use this dulce de leche here. Dulce de leche originally comes from South America, and the name means "sweet milk". Dulce de leche is basically caramelised milk, made from a condensed milk base which is cooked on a low heat over a long time. Alternatively make homemade caramel, you can find the recipe here.
When the chocolate is set, spread out an even layer of dulce de leche.
Pour the rest of the chocolate on top and carefully spread out all the way to the edges of the mold. Chill and leave to set. Pop out of the mold and decorate with Mill & Mortar edible gold dust, if you like. This edible dust has a neutral taste.
I use a brush to brush a small amount of gold dust onto the bar.
So pretty!
Break in half, and you can see the yummi Dulce de Leche ...
I love the Mill & Mortar raspberry dust, maybe because it's pink... :)
Such a nice present!
A gift made with love.
