Hello everyone, I hope you’re all well.
Sometimes I crave caramel apples, just the way I had them when in Nashville some time ago. I especially love the caramel apples they make at Savannah Candy Kitchen, and today I made these treats at home. A crisp, green apple dipped in caramel with real vanilla seeds… so good, and a big hit with the children.
Here is the recipe, and a new episode of Manuela’s Diner episode 11,
See the video below, enjoy
Southern treat Caramel Apples
- 6 apples
- 1 quantity caramel
- lollipop sticks
- crushed pecans (optional)
In Nashville they mostly use green apples, which are my favorites, but feel free to use red apples if you like red apples best.
Remove the stalks and push the lollipop sticks into the stalk ends.
Make the caramel, you can find the recipe here. Leave to cool for 30 minutes.
Grease a sheet of baking parchment with some non-stick baking spray.
Dip the apples into the caramel and place on the baking parchment.
This is sooo good… and the caramel stays soft, so no teeth will break off!
A memory from Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, made with love in my kitchen.
Have you ever been to Nashville?
Perfect with a glass of milk on the side, and a little day dreaming about being back in Nashville…
I also tasted another treat when in Nashville; pecans covered in caramel and chocolate.
I had some caramel left, so made these treats as well.
You’ll need:
- pecans
- caramel
- chocolate
I used the leftover caramel from the caramel apples.
Place 3-4 pecans in clusters onto a greased sheet of baking parchment.
Drizzle with the caramel, about 1-2 teaspoons per cluster.
Put some grated chocolate on top of the warm caramel, or use 3-4 chocolate chips.
And there you have it – another yummy southern treat.
These are dangerously good…
I hope you are tempted…
Have a nice evening everyone.
Hugs from me to you.
